SPMI (TU), the Higher Technical Institution in Russia, was founded in 1773. The Institute trains specialists for all branches mining and metallurgical sectors as well as for civil and industrial engineering of Russia and foreign countries.

The Mining Institute is engaged in intensive research in the main problems of national Mineral and raw Material Sector and rational use of natural resources. It develops advanced energy-conservative technologies of mining and processing of minerals.
