Autonomous power source for mobile phone and other portable electronic devices

Description

The new generation experimental models of primary power source (PS) based on hydrogen-air fuel sells and micro generators of hydrogen (MGH) with energy capacity of 2–4 Wt using reaction of oxidation of aluminum by water are developed in Scientific Association of High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences. PS (fig. 1) is intended for charging of accumulators or autonomous external power source of mobile phone and similar low-power portable consumers for lack of an external network. There is a possibility of scaling devices of (fig. 2) to level of 50–200 Wt.

The basic advantages of the developed technology are:

  • explosion-fire safety at storage and operation,
  • absence of poisonous components (methane, boron hydride sodium, lithium),
  • noiselessness and absence of emissions, except water steams,
  • possibility of fast “grab” of load from the device-consumer by MGH change,
  • possibility of interchangeable MGH long storage without operational parameters decrease, including field conditions,
  • specific parameters increase (at use of several MGH—up to 250 Wt·hour/kg and above).
