Short description

A series of measuring complexes have been developed considering almost all possible wood inventory variants at different timber processing plants. The base system “FS – Stream” is a computer-aided system of a general timber inventory, generated by means of up-to-date progressive technologies, for example by computer vision in field of non-contact optical measurement and processing methods of digital pictures.

Made on its basis, the “FS – Chip” presents equipment for non-contact measuring volume, moisture, density, and fraction composition of wood chips and waste delivered by conveyor belt; the “FS – Contour” means systems for piece-by-piece determination of roundwood volume and quality on logways, conveyers, sorting lines.

Additionally, measure systems have been developed, different from the base system, as the “FS – Storehouse” (timber inventory system in storehouse in real time regime) and the “Scantrack” (a complex managing all relocations of a timber batch by any transport from supplier to consumer).

Project development stage

The measuring complexes were examined in industry at the Syktyvkar Paper Plant in 2000 and 2002, at the Balakhinskiy Pulp and Paper Plant in 2002 and at the Kotlas Pulp and Paper Plant in 2003. Current work aims at development of computer measuring systems for customs supervision (government customer – the Federal Customs Service) and against illegal timber turnover (government customer – the Rosleskhoz).

Data about analogues

Measuring complexes from abroad are similar by production rates and measurement accuracy but are more expensive.

We possess exclusive rights to software of measuring complexes.

Project development is hampered by the absence of the state standard on measuring methods of roundwood products. Different organization use different measuring methods.

Marketing forecast: Measuring systems are needed by governmental organizations supervising timber logging and export, by timber cutters and timber processing enterprises.

These systems have no analogues by price at same measurement accuracy and rate.

Samples of practical usage

The measuring systems work at four big timber processing plants (Mondi Syktyvkar Paper Plant, Kotlas Pulp and Paper Plant, Balakhninskiy Pulp and Paper Plant, Tyumen Plywood Manufacturing Plant).

Product market volume

The governmental need for the measuring systems covers 500–800 million roubles per year. The market volume of timber logging and timber processing enterprises is 150–300 million roubles per year.
