The beginning of scientific research experimental designing work until 2007, the development was carried out at the expense of personal financing.

Short description

Russian land user during the last decade faced a number of problems that led to the change in crops and plantations phytosanitary condition. Financing reduction resulted in control weeds chemicals use decrease, inability to destroy them effectively with traditional agrotechnical measures, and, consequently, increase the farm lands pollution degree. The use of available but always ecologically unsafe chemicals increased the areas number with poor ecological condition. Also the quarantine weeds expansion area do not diminish. Therefore, new ways for weeds and unwanted vegetation abolishment on the basis of their physical destruction, which include the high voltage electric impulses application, are examined more often recent years.

In our view, electroimpulse weeds destruction can be more effective if areas are kept under fallow land and also in cases of quarantine weeds center suppression.

The long-term studies, electrical weeders existing models analysis allowed to define the basic elements and explain the rational construction structural design and unit scheme for weeds destruction by high voltage electrical impulses. The working out installation is mobile, easy and relatively cheap to operate, reliable and safe in operation. Fundamentally it consists of three main structural blocks: power-plant of movement, electrical energy and power supply device to the processing object.

Electroimpulse weeder proposed variant differs from existing models significantly by less energy consumption to destroy weeds, increased security degree, universal electrodes system and the device individual units automation possibility.

Main competitive advantages

Carried out technical-economical analysis showed that electroimpulse weeding is more efficient than traditional cultivation and herbicides application, and such a change is compensated respectively in 2,2 and 4,3 years. The mounted installation price (according to the prices in 2007), without taking into account the tractor cost, is 350 000 rub.

Scientific significance

On the given subject two candidates’ theses were defended, two monographs were written, more than fifty works in scientific magazines and conference materials were published. For the series of works “Electroimpulse weeding in the Nizhneje Povolzhje area” a winner diploma and a gold medal were got in 2008 at the 10-th anniversary Agricultural exhibition “Golden Autumn—2008” in the nomination “For innovative working outs in the field of agricultural science”.
